Travis Scott’s divine influence knows no bounds. The ‘Sicko Mode’ rapper has just persuaded the mayor of Houston to build the city a new amusement park.

Astroworld, Scott’s critically-acclaimed 2018 record, was named after Houston’s Six Flags AstroWorld theme park, which closed in 2005. It is the Astroworld record and accompanying tour that has inspired the mayor to build the theme park. The Astroworld spectacle pays homage to theme parks, with its production featuring both a rollercoaster and Ferris wheel.

As NME notes, on Wednesday (February 13), Scott delivered a hometown spectacle at Houston’s Toyota Centre. The show saw Scott honoured by mayor Sylvester Turner with a key to the city of Houston. It also saw Mayor Turner announce “Because of [Scott], we want to bring another amusement park back to Houston,”

The next day, Turner released an official statement affirming his plans to build the theme park. “It is a priority of my administration to always promote Houston as a world-class city,” Turner shared. “To that end, I am proposing to create a one of a kind permanent amusement park in the City of Houston. This venue would serve as an entertainment destination for local families and attract interest from a global audience. I first discussed the idea a few years ago and it recently gained momentum through my conversations with Grammy-nominated performer Travis Scott, whose album and concert tour pay homage to Astroworld, Houston’s former theme park.”

Back in November, professional old-head Tommy Lee accused Travis Scott of ripping-off his roller coaster set design from a 2011 Mötley Crüe tour.
