2012 Song of the Year winner and worldwide pop sensation Gotye will be joined by APRA Ambassador and all-round Australian music sweetheart Jenny Morris at the APRA Music Awards this year.
They’ll be in great company with hosts Jonathan Biggins and Clare Bowditch and special guest presenter Bert Newton when the event takes place at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre on Monday June 17th.
Music impresario Michael Gudinski will step up to the APRA stage for a special presentation. And nominated for three awards at the 2013 APRA Music Awards are presenters Suffa and Debris from Hilltop Hoods. They will grace the APRA stage off the back of a nomination in the Most Played Australian Work and 2 nods in the Urban Work of the Year category.
Fresh from a stint on The Voice as a mentor, Jessica Mauboy will also make a special appearance. Singer, songwriter, actress and APRA Ambassador, Jess is a performance superstar, having appeared on the small and large screen in addition to selling over 1.7 million total units in Australia.
The explosive British India will perform at the 2013 APRA Music Awards off the back of their current album Controller. On stage they are something else – their live show is a fervent display of the camaraderie and musicality that still endures today, six years after they first caught our attention with Guillotine.
Modernist pop outfit Architecture in Helsinki will bring their inimitable presence to the 2013 APRA Music Awards performance stage. Their most recent album, Moment Bends, received rave reviews. Next up the band will take on a slot at the Splendour In The Grass festival in July.
APRA Ambassador and electronica/doom pop star Abbe May along with best friend/producer Sam Ford and Spiderbait’s drummer extraordinaire Kram, will bring their experimental pop to the 2013 APRA Music Awards. After the album Design Desire, Abbe May took a sharp new turn away from her heavy guitar riffage and embraced experimental recording with a mellotron and a drum machine. The result is her current album, Kiss My Apocalypse, a killer album from a killer Australian songwriter.
Six-piece indie/pop/rock band Ball Park Music has had a wild ride since their debut EP from 2009. Their most recent album Museum was released in Australia in October 2012 and was named triple j’s Feature Album the following week. Fans across the country have caught on to the catchy pop tunes of Ball Park Music who will also showcase their wares at the Awards this month.
Nominated in the Dance Work of the Year and Urban Work of the Year categories is Georgi Kay, who will also perform at the 2013 APRA Music Awards. Georgi has had a huge year writing and singing on the track In My Mind in collaboration with Australian house music producers Feenixpawl and Ivan Gough (Flo Rida released a remix titled In My Mind, Part II) as well as becoming a feature character in Jane Campion’s miniseries ‘Top of the Lake’. Georgi will perform with APRA Ambassador Robert Conley, currently one of the most in demand songwriter/producers in Australia.
With his trademark melodies and beautiful voice, the multi-talented Lior will perform at the 2013 APRA Music Awards. Teaming up with Gian Slater, one of Australia’s most recognised and awarded jazz talents, the duo are sure to be one of many performance highlights during the Awards this year.
