Falls Festival 2013 Lineup has been announced with a huge list of bands headed to the annual New Year’s arts and music festival, which this year is thrice as nice as it expands to New South Wales for the first time, complementing its regular appearances at Lorne, Victoria and Marion Bay, Tasmania.

Falls Festival’s Byron debut will use the Yelgun site at the North Byron Parklands that got its debut at the recent Splendour In The Grass, with Falls founder Simon Daly calling it “a destination for our patrons to travel for.”

Now organisers have revealed the chief reason that punters travel, the all-important Falls Festival 2013 lineup.

As previously rumoured – and not so subtly hinted at for the use of their track ‘Unbelievers’ in the teaser trailer campaign – is Vampire Weekend, who along with Grizzly Bear and The Roots (who were also heavily rumoured) are at the top of the Falls Festival 2013 bill.

There’s plenty further down the Falls Festival 2013 lineup to enjoy also, with a great mix of indie rock, electronic masters, funky party-starters and plenty of homegrown talent.

On the international front there’s MGMT, The Wombats, !!!, Crystal Fighters, White Denim, London Grammar, and Solange Knowles. Locally there’s plenty to enjoy also with Chet Faker, Big Scary, The Preatures, Gossling, Hermitude, Pond and singer-songwriter legend Neil Finn.

The best part? Organisers have promised that there’ll be plenty of lineup additions in the coming weeks, so keep your ears and eyes peeled.

Along with the Falls Festival 2013 lineup, the Ticket Ballot is now open with registrations to enter the draw open until 26th August. Unique codes will be emailed to the lucky few, who will be randomly drawn from the pool of entrants. Those people will be able to purchase up to 4 tickets from 9am on 29th August.  For those who do miss out, there will be an allocation of tickets set aside for general sales starting at 9am on 4th September. Head to the Falls Festival 2013 website for all the details and ticket variations. Prices will be released shortly.

As well as taking place at the regular homes at Lorne and Marion Bay – which have been running for 20 years and 10 years respectively – this year’s Falls Festival 2013 marks the festival’s first ever appearance in Byron Bay; a move that comes as a result of last year’s deal that saw Splendour In The Grass co-founders Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco buying into a partnership with Falls Festival.

The new partnership helped ease approval by the local Shire Council for Splendour In The Grass’s new permanent home, securing a five-year trail to host three events at the Yelgun site – including Falls Festival – with a shift to new grounds promising more room for staging, less sound-bleed between stages, and extra space for camping and manoeuvring traffic at the picturesque parklands.

The full Falls Festival 2013 lineup will be playing all three legs of the festival, with more details and bands to come.
