Sydney metalcore heavyweights Northlane don’t do things half-hearted.

The outfit have been planning an Australian national tour for 2014, but instead of simply jumping on the road to play a string of dates, the hardworking quintet have called upon mates from near and afar to create their very own Aussie music festival.

Entitled Free Your Mind, Northlane’s mini-festival has been personally curated by the band and promises to provide punters an evening of assured madness. Making nine stops from the East to the West Coast, Free Your Mind kicks-off in Brisbane on 22nd May before taking Northlane’s handpicked lineup across the country.

Anxious anticipation has grown exponentially as the Sydney group have teased the Free Your Mind lineup, revealing only one act per week via social media. Northlane have already proven quite adept at stirring hype, having previously created a similar cyber buzz storm alongside their label UNFD for their sophomore LP release of 2013, Singularity

So just who exactly have Northlane hand-picked to warm up the circle pits for their nation-wide mini-festival? Northlane’s mini-festival has been personally curated by the band and promises to provide punters an evening of assured madness.

The latest addition to Free Your Mind is fellow Sydney-siders and contemporaries Thy Art Is Murder, who you may recall as the group who temporarily booted from Soundwave this year after almost ‘causing a riot’.

Also joining the Northlane lineup is the feared and revered Chicago-based outfit, Veil Of Maya. The quartet recently played host for Northlane for two shows in the United States, and it is now the Aussie headliners’ turn to reciprocate the favour and unleash the cataclysmic sea of Australian fans on the band.

Free Your Mind will feature yet another international act, aptly named Volumes, whom hail from Los Angeles. Riding on the success of their 2012 debut record VIA, which soared to #1 on the iTunes Metal charts on the day it dropped exemplifies just how talented these five dudes are.

Representing the West Coast on the Free Your Mind line-up is Perth juggernauts Make Them Suffer. The band’s debut EP Lord Of Woe has been heralded on an international scale, crowning the sextet as a warranted critic’s darling.

In closing out the final Free Your Mind line-up, Northlane will provide one local band of each location the unique opportunity to open the mini-festival through an online competition (more details here)

Northlane are also offering two ticket tiers “for those that want to get involved” in the words of the band, in two options: premium and deluxe.

“These tickets will be extremely limited and will give you the chance to be a part of an intimate 30 minute meet & greet with us before doors open,” say the Sydney five-piece.

“You’ll also score a signed tour poster, exclusive Free Your Mind tour T-Shirt, a meet & greet laminate as well as the luxury of skipping the line and being the first in the venue when the show starts. We’re also partnering with the Australian Children’s Music Foundation and donating 10% of revenue from these tickets to their Indigenous and Isolated Schools Program.”

Tickets to this free-for-all will not last, snap one up before it’s too late.
