A Jakubi Australian Tour 2014 has been announced to coincide with the release of the Melbourne funk and hip-pop collective’s new single.

Jakubi have amassed a huge online following worldwide, which is set to grow with the band’s new cut ‘Couch Potato’ (out Friday 27 June). To celebrate, Jakubi will hit the road for an east coast run of shows – including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Byron Bay and more – before embarking on a 17-date tour of America.

‘Couch Potato’ premiered on the renowned US music blog Hilly Dilly on Friday 13th June, and within less than three days, the single received over 30,000 plays. The track is currently ranked at #14 on Soundcloud’s trending music page, and #2 in the pop category – right behind British pop sensations, London Grammar.

Jakubi have also signed with Melbourne’s 123 Agency – joining a roster that includes Kingswood, Stonfield, Ella Hooper, Yeo and more. Jakubi’s unique flavour is made up of an irresistible combination of jangle guitars, hip hop beats and sailing synth rhythms. From melding the sounds of a talk box one minute, to reggae-inspired guitar the next – the band’s diversity is reinforced through their infectious, experimental collection of songs.

The quintet’s rapidly growing fanbase serves as a huge testament to their talent. After uploading their first ever track ‘Can’t Afford It All’ to Soundcloud in 2013, the song received a staggering 50,000 plays – all within the first two weeks. Their second and third singles also followed suit. Today, with their singles and remixes combined, the band can boast close to an incredible 5 million plays online.

Due to high demand, the band will take their energetic live show to fans across Australia and beyond – including America, where they continue to be inundated with requests from both loyal listeners and industry members alike.

Don’t miss this chance to catch Jakubi live before they’re lured overseas.
