The hottest boy band real band to come out of Australia in recent years, 5 Seconds of Summer, are continuing their current dream run Stateside, and have just made their debut appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, following in the footsteps of fellow Aussies and recent Ellen debutantes Sheppard, who are on their own quest to conquer the much-coveted US market.

As The Daily Telegraph reports, the band made their highly anticipated appearance on the daytime talk show staple following a massive social media campaign by the band’s American fans, which was dubbed, naturally, “Get 5 Seconds of Summer on Ellen!” It didn’t take a whole lot of rallying, considering the group have five million followers on Twitter alone, each more passionate than the last.

It’s been a foregone conclusion since the group first arrived on the scene that they were destined for One Direction-levels of international fame and rightly so. As Tone Deaf reported last month, the British boy band has a financial stake in the Sydney four piece, recruiting them as support for their European tour, and touting the group in interviews and on social media.

With the band sending several singles to platinum and gold accreditations here at home and Stateside success almost certain, they join the raft of Australian artists who, for all intents and purposes, are absolutely killing it right now. Besides our favourite Mullumbimby girl, Iggy Azalea, Vance Joy and The Preatures both look set to make it big over in the flat 50.

Check out the band’s performance, as well as the Beatlemania-esque reactions of their fans when they get to spend “5 Seconds with 5 Seconds of Summer”, in the clips down below.
