Heads up everybody, Scarlett Johansson has started another musical project, a girl group entitled The Singles that comprises of Holly Miranda, Kendra Morris, Julia Haltigan and Este Haim, the eldest HAIM sister banging the skins.

The quartet have dropped their first single, ‘Candy’ an aptly named sugar-sweet and over-the-top pop jam and the supergroup having enlisted TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek as producer.

The electro jam is a breezy three and-a-half minutes of cheesy pop, Johannson’s vocals are almost completely polished of the original smokey husk that we heard on the likes of her Tom Waits cover album Anywhere I Lay My Head.

The 30-year old commented on the new endeavour, “The idea was to write super-pop dance music written and performed by girls, I wanted it to be like those bands: ultra-pop but also a little ironic, a little in on the joke.”

With lyrics such as “you make mouth water yum yum yum” and “sugar sugar sugar pour it all over me” it does seem like ‘Candy’ is rather lighthearted. To be fair, it is incredibly catchy, however we’re not too sure that it’ll be topping any best-of lists for 2015.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the starlet Scarlett with the mic in her hand, her debut release was the aforementioned dream-pop Tom Waits release as well as a Serge Gainsbourg-inspired collaboration with Pete Yorn named Break Up, and of course a string of surprise stage performances including ‘Just Like Honey’ at Coachella.
