We’ve been a little quiet on the Like A Version front of late, more than likely because we’re still recovering from #1 Dads’ epic rendition of FKA twigs a couple of weeks ago, this week we’re super excited to share with you all a brilliant cover by a very promising youngster.

Adelaide singer-songwriter, Jesse Davidson, stopped by the Triple J studios to deliver a gorgeous remake of Childish Gambino’s ‘Sober’.

Joined by a backing four-piece, Davidson reimagines the 2014 hit, removing the synth R ‘n B flavour of Gambino and instead taking a much more holistic band approach to the ripping track, beautifully diving into a immersive dreamy sonic pool for the famous breakdown.

We must say that we’re blown away each week with the level of talent that’s hosted at Triple J Studios. We’ve already seen some killer Like A Versions this year, our hearts stopped when #1 Dad’s gave FKA twigs a run for her money, that was after Hiatus Kaiyote’s potential front runner for best of the year, not to mention The Bennies killing an Aussie classic, Sticky Fingers supporting a local act and of course, a bold reminder of why the ’90s rule.
