While it’s easier than ever these days to find and get music, it seems like every day it becomes more and more difficult to just get the things you actually want to hear.
With tons of albums getting released each month, sometimes it’s hard to keep track of the releases you definitely want to get your hands on and you find yourself just giving up.

Faith No More – Sol Invictus

The world’s most paradoxical band finally returns after an 18-year wait to unleash another metric ton of “WTF?” and it will be glorious. The long, long-awaited Sol Invictus is set to drop 15th May and the group have already unveiled two singles from the LP, ‘Motherfucker’ and ‘Superhero’, which prove that the band’s inimitable knack for making tuneful, intricate, and utterly perplexing concoctions of metal, rock, and the avant-garde has not aged a day.
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – Quarters

It’s been at least a month or two since Melbourne’s superhumanly prolific psych-rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard unleashed a new set of tunes upon their adoring fans, so they figured they better get it together and release another full-length album. Set to drop on Friday, 1st May, Quarters contains just four songs, each 10 minutes and 10 seconds long, accompanied by brilliant artwork created by long-time collaborator Jason Galea – a painting of four different worlds melding together.
The Vaccines – English Graffiti

The Vaccines have gone from strength to strength since unveiling their debut album, What Did You Expect of The Vaccines? back in 2011, following it up with 2012’s Come of Age, which shot right up to the number one spot in the UK album charts upon release. The band’s forthcoming third album, English Graffiti, is slated to drop 22nd May, giving Aussie fans plenty of time to learn their new lyrics before they make their way Down Under to perform as part of the stacked Splendour In The Grass 2015 lineup.
Hiatus Kaiyote – Choose Your Weapon

Melbourne’s resident Grammy-nominated neo-soul favourites Hiatus Kaiyote are set to drop their highly anticipated new album, Choose Your Weapon, on 1st May. The group recently dropped their new single, taken from the album, titled ‘Breathing Underwater’, of which frontwoman Nai Palm said, ““’Breathing Underwater’ is homage to the different examples of love and compassion in the world that are beyond the limitation of romance. I used arid imagery to depict this… It’s also a tribute to my musical hero Stevie Wonder.”
Major Lazer – Peace Is The Mission

Major Lazer are gearing up to drop the first of two new album this year. The first, Peace is the Mission, is set to drop on 29th May. Naturally, the follow-up to 2013’s collab-heavy Free The Universe is a star-studded affair, featuring contributions from artists in a diverse arrange of genres, including Pusha T, 2 Chainz, Travi$ Scott, Mad Cobra, Ellie Goulding, Ariana Grande, MØ, DJ Snake, and Wild Belle, among others. Diplo and co recently premiered the first cut to be taken from the album, ‘Night Riders’.
Ella Thompson – Janus

The prolific Ella Thompson has just added another flashpoint to her ever-expanding discography and it comes in the form of Janus, her debut full-length effort and the beginning of the next chapter in the bright career of this young musician. The album is slated for release on 22nd May and sees Thompson looking both “toward the future and back to the past”. Naturally, the album is rife with contradictions, making it a raw and honest affair. Janus is “an assertive foray into the rocky road of maturation” as well as a sign of big things to come from Ella Thompson.

Hot Chip – Why Make Sense?

Hot Chip are back and they have a swag of slick new tunes in tow. The UK synth-pop outfit’s new album, Why Make Sense?, is set for release on Friday, 15th May and they recently shared the non-album track ‘Burning Up’, which features all the hallmarks of the group we’ve come to know and love. Using a unique printing technique which has never been employed before, the band’s latest album will come in one of 501 different colours with variations in design that will make every cover unique.
Florence & The Machine – How Big How Blue How Beautiful

Speaking of Splendour In The Grass, headliners Florence + The Machine have been steadily building momentum for their eagerly anticipated third full length studio effort, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, for the past few months with two mammoth singles. “I guess although I’ve always dealt in fantasy and metaphor when I came to writing, that meant the songs this time were dealing much more in reality,” said frontwoman Florence Welch of the new record. How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful will be released on 29th May.
Palma Violets – Danger In The Club

Palma Violets are finally set to return with their eagerly awaited second album, Danger In The Club, set for release on Friday, 1st May. The South London four-some have just wound up a US tour and have celebrated by dropping the official video for their current single, ‘English Tongue’, directed by British DJ, musician, and filmmaker Don Letts. According to frontman Sam Fryer, “‘English Tongue'” is the last song we wrote for the album. We thought it sounded like an American country folk song with English lyrics and emotion.”
