While Daniel Johns has stated definitively that he has no interest in reforming Silverchair, the group that he fronted since he was a high-schooler, he has no such qualms about performing classics from the band’s repertoire during his solo shows.

Case in point, Johns recently took on the Sydney Opera House for his first headline performance as a solo artist, appearing as part of the program for Vivid LIVE, and he surprised the fans in attendance by running through a few beloved Silverchair cuts.

Johns whipped out ‘Straight Lines’ from 2007’s Young Modern and ‘After All These Years’ from their iconic 2002 release, Diorama, albeit in reworked form. As readers can see below, the two classic tunes got a rave reception from the crowd.

Johns also gave fans a performance of ‘Old Man (You Ain’t Better Than The Rest)’, a track from his Dissociatives project with Paul Mac. To close his set, Johns performed a rousing rendition of the Judy Garland classic ‘(Somewhere) Over The Rainbow’.
