As we covered back in April, we love a good mash-up and the internet has provided a wealth of catchy, unique, creative, bizarre, and totally unexpected mash-ups for us to feed our considerable habit. However, it looks like we may have a new favourite.

Australia’s electronic golden boy Flume dropped his eagerly anticipated new tune, ‘Some Minds’, last month. The track features Miike Snow vocalist Andrew Wyatt and sees Flume departing from his trademark sound and opting for a more soulful, cerebral cut to mark his return.

The mash-up artists have already put their hands on the track and have combined it with the vocals from The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1994 classic ‘Big Poppa’. The combination of the two is as silky smooth as you’d expect, almost like the two track were made for each other.

In other Flume-related news, the producer recently made headlines when he doesn’t make “dance music” and shared his thoughts on rock music. “It’s very stuck whereas with electronic music new sounds are being created. Imagine a Skrillex bassline 20 years ago – no-one would have been able to fathom what that sounded like,” he said.
