Wherever KISS go, you can be sure a shameless cash grab will soon follow them. The legendary rockers announced a return to Australian shores earlier this year and sure enough, they’ve just unveiled a new “one-off collector’s item” T-shirt and its… well, we’ll let you make up your own mind about it.

We’ve written about all sorts of merch here at Tone Deaf, whether we’re speaking to the experts to see how you can make your own merch or covering Katy Perry and Taylor Swift landing in hot water over merch.

We’ve also written about hilarious merch, like Peking Duk’s most excellent bumbag; ridiculously overpriced merch, like whatever the hell this was; musicians standing up to fake merch sellers and getting arrested for their trouble; and a particularly unsettling piece of merch we thought was disgusting.

In the latter case, we were a little perturbed by someone using Kurt Cobain’s suicide note to flog T-shirts. While the latest KISS tee doesn’t quite wade into that particular deep end of bad taste, you won’t be the classiest guy or gal at the party if you don one of these.

To celebrate KISS’ return to Australia this October, they’ve banded together with Collingwood Football Club to produce a “very special, one-off commemorative T-shirt”. The shirt features detailed drawings of KISS’ four members and the Collingwood FC logo on the front, with the words ‘KISS MAGPIE ARMY’ on the back.

The T-shirt retails for $40 plus postage and handling and is available for purchase for a strictly limited time period until Friday, 2nd October through both the KISS and Collingwood Football Club websites.

Now, is it just us, or could this possibly be the most bogan piece of band merchandise ever? Combining one of the world’s most admittedly corny rock bands with an Aussie Rules football club to create an utterly gaudy T-shirt? Only KISS could come up with that one. Kudos to them.

KISS are set to arrive in early October for a two-song performance on the Grand Final Footy Show live from Rod Laver Arena before heading to Perth to begin their Australian tour. While we can’t wait to see them, we reckon we’ll be donning our King Gizzard dad sweaters instead.
