FRNKIERO, best known as the guitarist of 2000s emo rockers My Chemical Romance, was just as bummed as all of us when Soundwave 2016 was cancelled, though probably a little less bummed than those ticket-holders who are still waiting on refunds.

So he’s decided to do things the Australian way by saying, “Fuck it”, and heading Down Under anyway. He’s now announced two special, intimate acoustic shows and signings in Sydney and Melbourne, and by the way, they’re also totally free.

“Dear Australian friends, I’m so sorry Soundwave 2016 got cancelled. I know you must be super bummed, but believe me, the feeling is mutual! I was really looking forward to getting to play for you all,” Frank writes in a statement.

“I mean hell I love Australia… in fact I love it so much I thought fuck it, I’m coming anyway!” As far as Frank is concerned, you don’t need a grand, music festival setting in order to have a great and memorable time (we agree).

“So I’m bringing my brother Evan, and a couple of guitars and we’re gonna play some songs for you and sign some records and hang out for a few days in whatever places that will let us … because we don’t need a festival ground to make a memory. see you soon,” he writes.

Frank will be hitting up Utopia Records in Sydney on Thursday, 28th January from 5.30pm and Eureka Rebellion Trading in Melbourne on Friday, 29th January from 6pm. Make sure you head down early so you don’t miss this rare and exciting live music event.
