As we all remember, last year’s triple j Hottest 100 was a bit of a fiasco due to one viral campaign that completely changed the Hottest 100’s voting rules. All revolving around Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’

The #tay4hottest100 campaign on Twitter, spearheaded by BuzzFeed, became a massive pain for triple j and in the end ‘Shake It Off’ was banned as soon as KFC got involved.

For this year’s Hottest 100, Justin Bieber has stepped into that role, with #bieber4hottest100 storming Twitter after a betting agency sent out a promoted tweet.

Like with Taylor Swift, triple j stress they want artists to be voted in based on their core listener base with acting triple j Manager Meagan Loader saying last year that the station “want genuine votes from genuine listeners”.

As it seems we are reliving history so soon, one of the best things to come out of the Taylor Swift fiasco was the Taylor Swift vs. Hottest 100 mixtape mixed by Aussie remix artist Jaymee Franchina.

The Western Australian artist just dropped this new mixtape to honour the current situation with Justin Bieber vs. triple j Hottest 100.

Like last year, be prepared to both walk down memory lane and stay firmly in the present, as Franchina has spliced the instrumental sections of Eminem’s ‘Cleaning Out My Closet’, ‘1901’ by Phoenix, and the slow burn of Lorde’s ‘Tennis Court’ with Justin Bieber’s squeaky clean vocals.
