ABC’s Black Comedy recently returned for its second series, complete with new characters joining your old favourites like, “Townsville’s favourite gays, the Housewives of Narromine, Blakforce & Tiffany, [and] the culturally confused wannabe black, white girl”.

However, if you checked it out on the ABC last night, you may have noticed a new but familiar face on your tube. Outspoken Indigenous Australian rapper Briggs is now a member of the cast, making his comedy debut on the much-loved, boundary-pushing sketch series.

You can check out Briggs’ performance via ABC iView here. Highlights include his turn as ‘Ray’, a stoic ex-convict who joins the Black Comedy writing team and proceeds to terrify everyone in the office. Expect #brickintheface to be a trending hashtag soon.

Speaking to triple j last year, Briggs revealed that he’s also working on his own thing with the ABC called Cleverman. The six-part series is a “sexy and dangerous” sci-fi drama set in the near future and tells the tale of two Indigenous brothers fighting for survival in a dystopian landscape.
