After unveiling what’s very likely the artwork for their upcoming eighth album, Australia’s King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have now dropped a totally manic and raucous trailer for the album, which is apparently titled Nonagon Infinity and drops this April.

After dropping the largely acoustic Paper Mâché Dream Balloon, the band revealed album number eight would be an ambitious tribute to the heyday of heavy metal, with influences like Slayer and Motörhead.

“It’s not really metal, but it’s inspired by stuff like that,” singer Stu Mackenzie told Rolling Stone. According to Mackenzie, the boys have been working on a “super heavy” prog-metal album that will play out as an “infinite loop”, for the better part of a year.

“I’m sure no one’s going to put it on repeat and loop the album,” said Mackenzie. “The initial plan was to make the album we’re recording now [before Paper Mâché], but we realized the songs weren’t anywhere near ready,” said drummer Eric Moore.

According to Rolling Stone, the album features “tight, Krautrock-influenced segue[s] connecting songs with tentative titles ‘Mr. Beat’ and ‘High School’”, as well as “a short snippet they’ve dubbed ‘Motörhead Ending’.”

The mind-bending trailer shared on the band’s official Facebook page does feature a sample of some very overdriven guitar sounds and offers up some track titles like ‘Robot Stop’, ‘Gamma Knife’, ‘People-Vultures’, and ‘Evil Death Roll’.
