The lineup for Splendour In The Grass 2016 is set to drop later this week and unlike most years, the build-up to the big day has been relatively free of incident. No fake lineups and no unfortunate leaks. Oh wait, hold on a second…
There is one supposedly “leaked” Splendour lineup that just started making the rounds, but it’s almost certainly (and we’re talking like 99% here) fake. A copy recently got sent into Tone Deaf by an astute reader whose friend supposedly got it from a Splendour source.
It really is an impressive little forgery. The design is pretty much spot-on and it boasts a very Splendour-ish lineup, including several acts that have been hotly rumoured for the 2016 instalment of the Byron Bay event, like Lana Del Rey and The 1975.
However, we have to deduct believability points for things like featuring the now-defunct Channel [V] as a presenting partner and having the ticket on-sale date listed as Thursday, 19th April, which it should be noted, is actually a Tuesday.
There’s also quite a few artists on the lineup whom we know for a fact have conflicting schedules, like Half Moon Run, who’ll be too busy touring Canada to appear at Splendour, though it would’ve been awesome to have them back.
So, sorry to burst your bubble, but you’ll have have to wait until the real lineup is announced on Wednesday to enjoy all of that Splendour FOMO.
