Just days after Devil You Know confirmed their departure from the Legion Music Festival lineup, another international act has pulled out of the upcoming Australian heavy music festival, with DevilDriver revealing on Twitter they will no longer appear.

However, what’s perhaps most curious about the situation regarding Legion Festival’s lineup is the lack of communication between fans and organisers. Neither the departure of Devil You Know or DevilDriver have been announced via the festival’s official channels.

In fact, DevilDriver are still listed on the lineup page of the festival’s official website, as were Devil You Know until recently. Organisers have not made any official announcements regarding lineup changes via the event’s official Facebook page.

In the case of both DevilDriver and Devil You Know, fans heard about their departure from Legion Festival via their respective Twitter accounts. In the case of Devil You Know, it was in response to a curious fan’s query.

However, organisers have made a statement to Music Feeds, telling the outlet that the Legion team is currently “taking the necessary steps to ensure longevity for an inaugural event of this size”.

“We wish Dez and Devildriver all the best and thank the band for their support for Legion over the last months. They are a sensational live act and one we look forward to seeing at a future Legion,” they said.

“We understand the timing of our launch announcement is critical for particular acts on the currently identified line-up and considering the nature of the event we are building we have no desire to impede any other touring opportunities.”

As Tone Deaf reported, Legion Festival suffered some significant blows shortly after it was first announced and saw a lacklustre result on its crowdfunding campaign. Despite the setbacks, Legion Festival was finally confirmed as a go by organisers earlier this year.
