It’s on like Donkey Kong, people. We’ve waited 12 long months for this and listened to a lot of great music and now voting for the annual triple j Hottest 100 is finally set to open next week. Start putting your list together now if you haven’t already, because voting for the 2016 triple j Hottest 100 opens 8am AEST Monday, 12th December.

We recently ran through a list of the tunes we reckon have the best shot at making it into the highly coveted Number 1 spot, including mega-tunes from the likes of Flume, Beyonce, Sia, Peking Duk, The Weeknd, A.B. Original, and oh, Flume again. If you need a bit of a refresher on who’s won in the past, Aussie Kye Smith recently drummed through all of them.

As if you didn’t know already, the 2016 triple j Hottest 100 countdown broadcast will take place on its traditional Australia/Invasion Day date (26th January). This is despite a popular campaign and calls from prominent musicians to make a symbolic statement and hold the countdown on a different date in solidarity with Australia’s Indigenous community.

Once again, triple j have partnered with AIME. This incredible charity plans to reach 10,000 Indigenous students annually by 2018 and see them finishing school at the same rate as every Australian child. It’s the second time triple j have joined forces with AIME and last year saw them raise over $100,000. You can help them do even better this year by making a donation when you register your vote.
