A massive reunion in the face of Donald Trump’s impending presidency, as Audioslave are confirmed to be reuniting for their first live performance in 12 years.
Chris Cornell, Tom Morrello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk will be getting the band back together to play the upcoming ‘Anti-Inauguration Ball’ being thrown by Prophets of Rage “and friends”.
They’ll be joined on the bill by rapper Vic Mensa, iconic songwriter Jackson Browne, comedian and rocker Jack Black, the Los Angeles Freedom Choir and, of course, Prophets of Rage themselves.
The news broke via the release of the event poster on the bands’ socials, and was accompanied by a strong anti-Trump message.
“The Anti-Inaugural Ball is a celebration of resistance,” the band say. “Resistance to racism. Resistance to sexism. Resistance to homophobia. Resistance to bullying. Resistance to environmental devastation. Resistance to fascism. Resistance to Donald Trump.
“We are staring down the barrel of a dystopian nightmare unless we act NOW, unless we fight back NOW. We intend to create ‘No Trump Zones’ across the country; in our homes, our schools, our places of work, and our concert stages. Bad Presidents make for great music. Join us as we get loud and stand together to defend our rights, our country, and our planet.”
It’ll all go down on January 20 at Los Angeles’ Teragram Ballroom, and with this massive news (not to mention the strength of the lineup itself), this’ll be one inauguration that people will actually be lining up to attend.
