Bob Dylan has been banned from playing several gigs in China and has canned his Asian tour. It’s all due to the angry young man protest songs which he wrote almost 50 years ago. Chinese officials refused permission for him to play in Beijing and Shanghai, according to his local promoters. China’s Ministry of Culture has to give approval for foreign bands to play in the country, and they’ve cracked down on tours particularly after Bjork yelled ‘Free Tibet’ on stage a few years ago. That should rule out Fucked Up and Black Lips tours there.
