We’ve already made it more than clear that we’ve got love for Paradise Music Festival, having pegged it as a boutique Aussie event well worth your attendance when they announced their return, with those sentiments only strengthened when they announced their lineup.
Leading the all-Aussie list of indie artists heading to the Lake Mountain Alpine Resort for Paradise Music Festival 2014, taking place on the weekend of 28th – 30th November is none other than Sydney’s sonic provocateur Kirin J. Callinan, Melbourne’s electro auteur Oscar Key Sung, and Perth electronic trio Crooked Colours.
If you’re still not convinced that this is set to be one of the must-see music festival events of the summer, we got the organisers behind Paradise Festival to list their top nine reasons why you should be getting your Paradise Festival tickets right now.
It’s Freaking Beautiful
“A mountain setting. Big open spaces. Lush grass and a stage now famed for being framed by trees. (You’ve seen photos right?) A natural splendour, music and people. Nice.”
“The Lineup Is Schmick”
“The lineup is schmick and brings the best from our capital cities for an assortment of ears and tastes. Paradise is headed by Kirin J Callinan who has (not surprisingly) been compared to iconic icon Nick Cave, while the Melbourne-based Oscar Key Sung will bring his own unique flavour of smooth and sexy R&B, and Perth trio Crooked Colours will inject their eclectic take on electronic sounds to the festival.
“We’re particularly down to see Brisbane up-and-comer UV Boi, fresh from his live collab with Ryan Hemsworth, while Young Franco and LUCIANBLOMKAMP are also on our will-not-miss-list. Menawhile, Melbourne favourites Rat & Co, Banoffee, and Driendships will also join the array of talent from around the country.”
It’s All About The View
“This delectable selection will be presented from the jewel of Paradise, the scenic outdoor stage, perfect for when the sun’s out, and it’s time to dance and join the festivities to the many bands performing over the weekend. Or maybe you’ll need somewhere to lie in preparation for all the dancing – we know what mornings are like.”
Fancy Yourself A Club Rat?
“Paradise also plays host to Clubland, an onsite nightclub that runs till 8am. Aside from the fact that this a relatively amazing and unheard of musical festival accompaniment, it’s also pretty convenient. Take no jacket with you when you’ve done a snack-run back to your campsite. Paradise has always promised to bring the best parts of the city-music scene to the country, and Clubland exemplifies that, dishing up music, the way it’s suppose to be served.”
It’s For The People, By The People
“Paradise is BYO. This is a festival made by people who also go to festivals, they know what’s up.”
You Can Stay Clean
“There are showers. And inside toilets. There are also tents, you bring them and you sleep in them, so this could even be considered glamping, but not in the yuppie sense, just in the showers-without-charge sense. You don’t have to use them, but everyone else will. It’s a nice option, no?
“None Of Those $20 Sub-Par Festival Burgers Here”
“The food. This is not a festival for millionaires, but this isn’t a festival for those with fried tastebuds either. There will be none of those $20 sub-par festival burgers here. Paradise will be catered for by its own chef, serving a selection of delectable treats and filling you up for under 10 bucks. That hits the spot in all senses, without much impact on your wallet.”
Boutique Actually Means Boutique
“Paradise is an independent festival. Boutique in scale. Queues at a minimum. Space. Nice people, lux music. Good times, obvi.”
It Won’t Cost An Arm And A Leg
“It’s cheap. Only $150 (+bf), which is less then you’d spend in a weekend anyway, amiright?”
