Australian dance outfit Yolanda Be Cool have topped the UK single charts this week with the ubiquitous house track ‘We Speak No Americano’. In addition to topping the charts in Denmark, Spain, Holland, Luxembourg, Ireland, Sweden, Romania and New Zealand, they’ve now reached the top in ‘Ol Blighty in conjunction with their mate, producer DCup.
The duo, who trade under the individual names of Sylvester Martinez and Johnson Petersen – and like to remain out of the media spotlight by obscuring their faces in photos and using the aforementioned pseudonyms – sampled the 1956 hit ‘Tu vuo fà L’americano’ by Renato Carosone.
Their name, of course, is a line delivered by Jules Winnfield (played by Samuel L. Jackson) in the diner robbery scene in Pulp Fiction and it looks like they’ll be celebrating with more than just $5 shakes as they play the Splendour In The Grass festival this weekend.
