Tours are volatile by nature. You’re relying on an incomprehensibly complex web of logistics to ensure everything goes right. From ticket providers, to airlines, everyone’s got a job to do if all is to run smoothly.
One variable that always manages to stick a spanner in the works, however, is Mother Nature. She straight up does not give an F and is liable to rain all over your parade, literally, or y’know, cover it in volcanic ash.
This is the unfortunate reality that Sydney metalcore outfit Buried In Verona have found themselves facing. Due to a volcanic ash cloud taking over the skies in Bali, all flights out of the country have been cancelled.
“We have some bad news,” the band wrote earlier this week, much to the dismay of fans hoping to see them on the current Northlane tour. “Due to volcanic ash in the air in Bali, all flights out yesterday were cancelled.”
“We have been fighting to get onto new flights and calling the airlines all day and unfortunately our only option was to book to fly overnight through Singapore to Adelaide, costing us extra money and forcing us to miss the first show of the Node tour.”
“We hate doing this to you Australia because all we want to do is get back home and play for you all. You all have always been so good to us, but we promise to make it back up to you.”
The band recently returned to their social media channels to update fans with more upsetting news, confirming that Bali airport is still closed, resulting in the cancellation of their Adelaide performance last night.
“We will keep you updated on this shitty situation as it unfolds. Much love,” they add. Buried In Verona aren’t the only ones who’ve been left stranded due to the situation in Bali.
Melbourne band Tigers have been forced to cancel a Saturday performance as their guitarist is currently stuck on the Indonesian island and Tone Deaf have been informed that several industry figures are still stuck in Bali, though they’re not complaining.
