Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford gave an impromptu weather report for viewers tuning in to the trans-Tasman first Test TV broadcast on Saturday, dropping an accidental F-bomb to really drive the point home.

As the Sydney Morning Herald reports, social media went into meltdown after Mumford exclaimed that “It’s fucking hot lads” while mic’d up for The Cricket Show on Saturday.

Marking the second accidental F-bomb during Channel Nine’s cricket coverage in as many years, Mumford could be heard cussing as the camera lingered over a shot of children playing cricket at the Gabba.

The cameras then crossed to Mumford, who was clearly feeling the heat as he prepared to face former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee at the Gabba nets as part of a stunt, which readers can check out below.

Mumford had strapped bubble wrap over the top of his cricket gear and was baking in the Brisbane heat. Some on social media even claimed to have heard Mumford saying “wanker” as he struggled against Lee.

Channel Nine experienced a similar gaffe during the 2013 Ashes series after stump mics caught Australian captain Michael Clarke telling England’s James Anderson, “Get ready for a broken fucking arm.”
