Yesterday we mourned the loss of SpongeBob Squarepants creator Stephen Hillenburg. Hillenburg passed away age 57 after a lengthy battle with ALS, he announced he had the disease in March 2017. Hillenburg conceived, wrote, produced and directed the cult animated series Spongebob Squarepants, which debuted in 1999.

Beck shared an emotional tribute to the late animator. Hillenburg and Beck were neighbours an had previously collaborated on the artwork for Beck’s 1993 single “MTV Makes Me Want to Smoke Crack”  Beck shared “I always remembered him as a genuinely sweet guy. I was lucky to get to run into him by chance at the airport a few months ago.”. Read the full post below.
