A notebook reportedly once owned by Canadian musician Drake appears to have been sold for a rather hefty sum.

Think back to your high school days for a second, and you might remember some of the angst-ridden poetry that you wrote, working under the false assumption it was far deeper than you could have ever realised.

Now, imagine that someone found that notebook and tried selling it for an eye-watering sum. That’s exactly the situation that Drake recently found himself in.

As TMZ reports, a notebook reportedly once owned by Drake recently went up for sale for $32,500 by Moments In Time.

According to the site, the notebook dates back to the rapper’s teenage years between 2002 and 2005, and was reportedly found “in a dumpster near Drake’s grandpa’s old furniture factory in Toronto, where Drake used to work.”

While the whole thing sounds relatively similar to how Sufjan Stevens’ debut album was discovered in 2016, it appears to be a legitimate document once owned by Drizzy, as it features his signature as well.

As for the sort of lyrics and writings that are included, TMZ were forward-thinking enough to copy down a few bars before someone ostensibly purchased the intriguing log.

Girls lie and you make it evident you affected
Up north / Drake is the president I’m respected
But I’m a liar due to the evidence you collected
From chicks in my crew / to chicks beside you
Cashiers at the drive through / them hoes lie too

While it appears as though Drake’s lyrics have definitely evolved over the years, it’s not clear why the journal was ditched in the first place. Likewise, it’s not known who retrieved the journal from the dumpster it was found in, or how Moments In Time got a hold of it.

As Genius points out though, this isn’t the first time an old notebook of Drake’s has surfaced, with another notebook from the same era being discovered in the same manner last year, when it was listed for $54,000.

Whatever the case, the item appears to have been sold (or taken down from the Moments In Time website), meaning that someone with a ‘God’s Plan’ amount of money might have snatched it up for their personal collection.
