Taylor Swift has truly been a knight in shining armour amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past few weeks, Swift has been silently donating money to fans struggling to make ends meet after losing work amid the COVID-19 crisis. Swift hasn’t publicly acknowledged anything about donations, though several fans have taken to social media to share that Swift donated $3000 each to assist them to make rent and pay bills.

Now, Swift, continuing her crusade of kindness, will cover the salary and healthcare for all employees at beloved Nashville record store Grimey’s.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Grimey’s co-owner Doyle Davis revealed that Swift reached out via her publicist to offer relief during this tulmutous time.

“I didn’t even know we were on her radar, but she really stepped up to help after the recent tornadoes that struck Nashville and middle Tennessee and now, she’s trying to help a beloved small business in her city,” he explained.

“Taylor generously offered some direct relief to my staff and to cover three months of our healthcare costs for our group insurance plan.

“It’s a huge deal to us and now I have some peace of mind as we apply for loans to pay rent, vendors, and other expenses. This assistance from Ms. Swift helps give us a real shot at coming back on the other side of this.”

“It’s incredibly heartening and totally surreal that Taylor Swift has offered to help us out in such a significant way,” Grimey’s buyer Will Orman added. “With so much uncertainty about what lies ahead, we’re deeply grateful to be able to look forward to returning to the store and continuing to share music and connect with our community, thanks to Taylor’s generous support.”

The COVID-19 pandemic and the social-distancing has hit record stores hard over the past weeks. The postponement of Record Store Day, the biggest trading day of the year, has only added to the strain. To offer support during this trying time, the music community has banded together to launch a new initiative, Love Record Store. The initiative encourages people to shop online with their favourite independent record stores.
