Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has donated thousands to a company in his hometown making scrubs for frontline healthcare workers.
In his hometown of Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England, singer-songwriter, and musician, Robert Plant has made a local donation worth several thousand pounds to help support the National Health Service during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The company he donated to, MG Sportswear, has had to start a Go Fund Me page to raise funds in order to purchase more fabric to continue making scrubs, and Plant is one of the most recent donations, having sent thousands of pounds.
Even though the company typically produces clothing for schools and sports teams, they’ve focused their production on scrubs due to the shortage in the ongoing pandemic.
Manager Kim Calder noted “every night, we heard the stories of shortage of scrubs for frontline hospital workers due to the increase in demand and the need to change them more frequently.”
“Our company director Gino Ruffinato was saddened that we had the capacity to supply but not the supply chain or the funds to get the fabric needed,” so the company started a Go Fund Me page, and within 48 hours, the team had raised enough money to begin producing scrubs.
“We have just received a generous donation from Robert Plant that ensures we can continue to get fabric,” Calder included.

“We’re all in our own vacuums within our own homes feeling relatively safe,” Plant has stated, “so I’m pleased to be able to support the work that these good people are doing for our frontline nurses, doctors, carers etc. in providing much-needed scrubs and masks.”
“It would be great for them to get more support and funds ensuring they can carry on making what is needed,” he ended with, noting that MG Sportswear’s Go Fund Me page is still active, and needing as much as possible to continue delivering scrubs to those England hospitals in need.
