Linkin Park have revealed that they still have unreleased material featuring late frontman Chester Bennington tucked away in the archive.

During a recent Twitch stream, Linkin Park co-founder Mike Shinoda delved into an unreleased song featuring Bennington in the treasure trove.

The track is called ‘Friendly Fire’, and was set to appear on Linkin Park’s 2017 record, One More Light, that ultimately didn’t make the cut.

“There was a song, a One More Light song” Shinoda shared (via AltPress). “We mixed more [songs] than [are on] the finished album and we mixed a couple [of] other songs just to see if one of them would make the cut or whatever. [Or] if we could use it for a B-side and it was ‘Friendly Fire’.”

The track was co-written with One More Light collaborator, Jon Green. “I still love that song,” he says. “Is that out somewhere? Did we put ‘Friendly Fire’ out at some point? We didn’t, did we?”

Naturally, Shinoda’s comments incited a influx of comments from fans, pleading with the guitarist to release the track. Much to their dismay, Shinoda admitted that fans shouldn’t anticipate hearing the track anytime soon.

“You literally are going to have to wait years to hear that song FYI,” Shinoda says.
