As coronavirus continues to spread around the United States, heavy metal icons Metallica have been helping by feeding the hungry through their All Within My Hands Foundation.
Metallica has been doing all sorts of good things during the COVID-19 pandemic that’s still wreaking havoc across the world. Not only have they been donating left and right, but frontman James Hetfield is even raffling off handmade coffee tables to charity.
With having donated a whopping $645,000 USD via their nonprofit organisation, All Within My Hands Foundation, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has detailed the band’s recent charitable works in an interview with Full Frontal.
“The craziest thing, if you get into stats, is that one in six Americans are on track to be food insecure this year, and one in four kids, which is crazy,” Ulrich revealed.
“And that’s the highest those numbers have ever been. What’s been happening in the last few months, during the pandemic, is making it even worse.”
Continuing on, Ulrich noted that the band has a lot going on with the foundation including donating funds to the Feeding America program, Direct Relief, Bartender Emergency Assistance Program, and Crew Nation, and that $2 from each ticket sale goes directly to their organisation.
“Metallica started All Within My Hands four years ago to primarily work in the areas of food insecurity, education and disaster relief,” Ulrich noted.

“We’ve toured a lot in the U.S. the last two, three years. Every show, we meet with local volunteers, and these volunteers cover the whole state — they’re out there putting hundreds and hundreds of miles on their cars.
“It warms my Danish, hard rock heart to see how many of our fans all over America are stepping up. And basically, every time Metallica plays a show in your community, two dollars from every ticket goes into our organization, and a lot of that goes into Feeding America.”
