Dave Mustaine Is Already Talking About Megadeth’s Next Tour

Megadeth’s farewell tour hasn’t even reached Australia yet, but Dave Mustaine is already talking about coming back.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone AU/NZ, the Megadeth frontman appeared to let slip that another Australian tour could be on the cards, despite the band currently preparing to call time on their more than four-decade career.

Megadeth will return to Australia this November as special guests on Iron Maiden’s ‘Run For Your Lives’ world tour, with shows scheduled for Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. But when Rolling Stone AU/NZ mentioned hoping to catch the band while they were here, Mustaine offered an unexpected response.

“Well, I wish you could see us,” he said. “Maybe when we come back next time, you will.”

Asked to clarify exactly what he meant by “next time”, Mustaine suggested Megadeth could return for a headline run of their own. “Yeah, I think we’re going to do one on our own,” he said. “This was really great to do this with Maiden, but I’m not sure. I could be totally wrong, but I usually don’t make mistakes.”

Pressed on whether that meant November might not be the final time Australian fans see Megadeth, Mustaine stopped short of confirming anything – but he certainly didn’t rule it out. “Yeah, let me check on that. I’ll keep you posted. I’ll keep you posted.”
