It looks like AC/DC are gearing up to announce a world tour.

US radio station V100 claim that “sources” told them that the rock monoliths are set to announce the tour next week. The station has also claimed that frontman Brian Johnson has rejoined the lineup.

Rumours that Johnson had rejoined the band began circulating in August last year after Johnson and Phill Rudd were photographed outside the Canadian recording studio where AC/DC recorded their last three records. These rumours hit a groundswell when LA grindcore band Terrorizer claimed that they ran into Johnson at an airport, who confirmed that he had rejoined the band.

“We ran into Brian Johnson from AC/DC at the airport today after the flight home and we asked him about the rumours of him being on the new AC/DC album,” the band shared in a Facebook post.

“He said, ‘Yes’ and that he is ‘sick of denying it’. So that was a cool surprise ending to the tour.”

V100 reported earlier today that, “Brian has been working special in-ears made for his performances so that he can continue to perform without causing any more damage to his hearing than he already has”. We don’t want to put all our eggs in one basket, but we’re hoping that these rumours come to fruition.

Johnson left AC/DC in 2016, attributing his reason for leaving to worsening hearing loss after decades of playing in one of the world’s loudest bands.

“I cannot imagine going forward without being part of [AC/DC], but for now I have no choice,” explained Johnson in a statement at the time. “I wish to assure our fans that I am not retiring.”

Following his departure from the band 2016, Brian Johnson was replaced by Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose, whose live performances from the group were praised.
