Craggy faced screen legend Al Pacino has signed on to play nutbag recording legend Phil Spector in an American HBO film about the producer’s life. According to the New York Times, playwright David Mamet will be writing and directing the as yet untitled film. Spector, who rose to prominence as a teenage whizz kid record producer before going on to develop his infamous ‘wall of sound’ production style, is currently doing time in jail. He was convicted last year of the second degree murder of B-movie actress Lana Clarkson and at 70 years of age, it’ unlikely that he’ll ever complete his 19 year jail sentence alive.
