Iconic and influential indie record label Matador Records – which is home to the likes of Cat Power, Interpol, and Yo La Tengo – has announced the initial selections for its 2013 Singles Club, with four Australian acts taking part.
Singles Going Home Alone, the 2013 instalment of the New-York based record label’s unique program, is to feature six exclusive vinyl releases singles in a 13-part series which will be sent to subscribers throughout next year, as The Music reports.
Loyal fans pay up front to receive a mouther-watering selection of unreleased material and collaborations across the year, including a final mystery release as well a container to put all that shiny vinyl into.
Included in the 2013 program is cult Australian act Dick Diver, who were recently announced as part of the huge Golden Plains lineup, who will be releasing a split 7-inch with fellow countrymen Lower Plenty on the 23rd of April.
Also taking part will be Royal Headache, who supported The Black Keys on their recent run of massive headline shows in the country, with a single to be released on June 11th. The Sydney band will also be playing at Meredith Music Festival, which will be taking place next weekend.
Rounding out the impressive list of Aussie acts participating in Singles Going Home Alone is Melbourne’s own alt-hardcore punk rockers Bits Of Shit, whose single will be sent out to subscribers on May 21st.
This quartet of local talents will be joining international acts such as American indie-rockers Superchunk, Cheap Time frontman Jeffrey Novak, and Irish guitarist and composer Cian Nugent on the Singles Club, with six subsequent singles to round out the second half of 2013 yet to be announced.
Matador Records launched their Singles Club last year, and it’s first incarnation featured the likes of Pavement’s Stephen Malkmus, OBN IIIs, and The Men. The 2012 version was closed out with 7-inch vinyl from Kurt Vile and Meg Baird, and has become hugely popular for collectors of rarities and vinyl-lovers alike.
