Fresh from supporting Mutemath on their recent Australian tour, Melbourne’s Big Scary today announced the local supports for their headlining national tour in April. Joining Big Scary as national support on their upcoming tour will be SOYA winner Caitlin Park.
With a knack for melodic, sun-drenched pop reminiscent of The Beach Boys and Fleetwood Mac, local outfit Rainy Day Women will be supporting Big Scary in Fremantle and Perth. Having performed at Big Day Out and Laneway, the four-piece will bring their sunny tunes to Mojo and the Amplifier.
Thanks to their killer live shows, dream-pop trio Swimming have built up a strong local following in their hometown of Adelaide. Having previously toured alongside Chet Faker and Deep Sea Arcade, this will be their first time playing with Big Scary.
Gold Coast natives Lyon Apprentice will be opening Big Scary’s Brisbane show at Alhambra. Comprised of brothers Adam and Nathan Lyons, 2013 looks set to be a big year for the duo – who have just recorded their soon-to-be-released debut EP with producer Mark Myers (The Middle East, Emma Louise, Tim Hart).
Described as a band ‘far too interesting and intelligent to be ignored’, Melbourne three-piece I’lls will be opening Big Scary’s hometown show with their unique brand of organic trance. Having established a devoted following in their local music scene with their endless looped beats and ethereal vocals, this gig at the Corner is not to be missed.
Big Scary’s first headlining national tour since their sold-out Vacation tour in May 2012, these upcoming April dates will see the alt-pop outfit preview new material off their forthcoming debut album Not Art, which is due out end of June.
