Bob Dylan has continued his penchant for immersive box sets, announcing a 14-disc collection of live performances from his 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue tour.
Back in 1975, Bob Dylan was one of the biggest artists in the world. He’d just released his 15th album, Blood On The Tracks, and he was continuing his legacy as one of the most acclaimed artists on the scene.
However, this presented a bit of a problem for the artist, who was growing tired with the trappings of fame and highly-populated concerts.
To combat this, he plotted the Rolling Thunder Revue, a two-leg, 57-date tour of North America which saw Bob Dylan specifically perform in intimate venues in less-populated areas as a way to get back to his roots.
Backed with the musicians who would appear on his Desire album, and bringing along the likes of Joan Baez, Roger McGuinn, Joni Mitchell, and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, the tour was highly praised by critics who considered these shows to be some of Dylan’s best.

While Netflix has a Martin Scorsese-directed documentary of the tour on the way, Bob Dylan is now set to give his diehard fans the treat of a lifetime, announcing a massive 14-disc live album recorded on the tour.
While recordings from this tour have already surfaced on the fifth volume of Bob Dylans’s Bootleg Series, the aptly-titled The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings are set to be the first time that full concert recordings from these shows have been released by the artist.
Specifically picking full shows, rehearsals, and “rare performances” from the 1975 leg of the tour, it’s unclear whether a 1976 edition of the Rolling Thunder Revue will also be released, but whatever the case, it’s set to be an intriguing document of one of Bob Dylan’s finest live moments.
