From the compiler of the legendary 70s-80s Australian punk compilation Do The Pop!: Australian Garage-Rock Sound 1976-87, comes the equally historical Boogie! compilation and it does not disappoint!

Featuring in excess of 40 blues-inspired rock tracks from this era, the two disc compilation thankfully avoids turning into another one of the all too familiar re-repackaged ‘Best of Aussie Rock’ compilations.

Yes, there are a handful of the pub-rock classics we’ve all heard before (namely The Angels’ ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again?’, Spectrum’s ‘I’ll Be Gone’ and Billy Thorpe’s ‘Most People I Know…’), but there is much more on offer here.

The tracks from bands such as Ariel, Buffalo, Chain, Carson, Lobby Lloyd and the Coloured Balls, Madder Lake and Kahvas Jute demonstrate that this era was more than just about Cold Chisel and the Aztecs.

Live tracks from Sunbury, album artwork by Ian McCausland and entertaining liner notes from 70s Oz rock critic Jenny Hunter-Brown add to the nostalgia factor and show that a lot of care was taken in putting this package together.

While rock giants AC/DC’s absence is noticed (Warner was contractually unable to feature them), there is more than enough here to keep even the most devout Australian rock fans satisfied.
