Sydney’s ultimate party-animal pair Bootleg Rascal have just released their first tracks in almost a year, with the endearing double A-side ‘Yin & Yang’ – and, as you’d expect, the tracks are on totally opposite ends of the spectrum.

“We really wanted to do something different, explore incorporating different aspects of music that we really love listening to, like Hip-Hop and Soul. It’s also just a hell fun song”, frontman Carlos Lara explains, about ‘Get Over Myself’.

That first track incorporates exhilarating warped bass-infused synths, and meandering screeches throughout. The release was created with the help of long-time musical collaborator and friend Ian Pritchett [Boo Seeka, Angus and Julia Stone, Kim Churchill].

On the second track, ‘Tryin’ To Run’, guitarist Jimmy Young explains the similarities between that and earlier Bootleg Rascal tracks.

“We just wanted to create a bit of a Cake-esque jam; something you can have some fun with,”

‘Tryin’ To Run’ hears the band take on their trademark feel-good sound which has already taken their music around the world, with a hip-hop sound taking the lead.

Elements of Hilltop Hoods, Outkast, and the Weeknd can be heard throughout both tracks, but Hoods’ elements are especially prevalent in the second track – one that will totally get you hooked at first listen.

He continues, “I think this is a pretty classic style Bootleg jam. Some groove driven dirty riffs with a gang bang, sing-a-long ending”.

Not only have the pair made such an impressive return with these two tracks, but soon, they’ll hit the road in an eight-date tour across Australia, and New Zealand.

Taking in capital cities across both countries, the pair will visit Melbourne first, wrap up Australia in Sydney, and then head abroad to New Zealand.

In New Zealand, Queenstown, Dunedin, Christchurch, Auckland, and Tauranga all cop a Bootleg infusion.

Bootleg Rascal‘s double A-side ‘Yin & Yang’ is out now, get the track here.
