In celebration of what would have been his 72nd birthday, British Airways baggage handlers have paid tribute to Freddie Mercury through a song and dance. They performed Queen classic ‘I Want To Break Free‘ in Heathrow Airport, decked out in fake moustaches, custom jackets and neon suitcases.

Before he joined Queen in 1970, Mercury, real name Farrokh Bulsara, worked as a baggage handler at Heathrow Airport. The performance was planned in partnership with the ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ film, which comes out November 2nd. As well as the performance, Heathrow also featured Queen songs on their arrival boards, and sold memorabilia in the departures lounge.

Queen continue to perform across the world, with Adam Lambert fronting the classic rock band. “Freddie would love and hate him, because Adam has a real gift from God,” guitarist Brian may told Yahoo.

“It’s a voice in a billion, nobody has that range, nobody that I’ve ever worked with, not just the range but the quality throughout the range. I’ve seen Adam develop just like I watched Freddie develop.”

“In no way does he imitate Freddie but he provides that piece of the jigsaw puzzle,” he said. “It’s stupendous, we would never be doing this now if it weren’t for Adam.

“Sometimes I stop playing because I think ‘what did he just do?’ He’s so free with his interpretations and it’s just spine-chilling. The sound he makes and the way he interprets a song.”
