Are you in the mood for good food and the same good tunes all day? Then you might want to head over to the UK, where a London Burger King restaurant is set to play Toto’s ‘Africa’ all day following a social media campaign.

On Sunday afternoon, the UK Burger King Twitter account shared out a message that would have sounded strange to almost anyone ten years ago.

“If this tweet gets 1000 RTs we’ll play Toto – Africa all day in one of our restaurants,” the chain wrote on social media, leading to an influx of interest from their music-loving followers.

Now, as NME reports, the people have spoken, Burger King have stayed true to their word, and their customers are set to hear nothing but Toto’s ‘Africa’ all day today.

After receiving well over their goal of 1,000 retweets, the chain took to Twitter again to break the news, stating, “I bless the rains down in Camden Town, head to our restaurant there today if you want to sing along.”

Of course, Twitter users were quick to equally praise and mock the chain, with some calling it a brilliant decision, while others asked why they would choose to punish their employees in such a manner.

Of course, if you’re out of the loop, this might all sound strange, so hang about while we fill you in.

Back in December, a 14-year-old Twitter user started a viral campaign for US alt-rockers Weezer to cover one of the greatest songs from the ’80s, Toto’s ‘Africa’.

“It was just a goofy joke,” explained Mary in an interview with Vice. “It was from Weezer was talking about they were inspired for their new album [Pacific] Daydream, what inspired them. So I jokingly said, “Oh I bet they were inspired by ‘Africa’ by Toto for their new album.”

“It was just an absurd joke. And then I was like, ‘I wonder if I can get them to cover the song.’”

After a bit of fun with the campaign, Weezer dropped a cover of Toto’s ‘Rosanna’, effectively trolling all their fans before finally appeasing their audience and releasing their cover of ‘Africa’.

Soon after Weezer’s cover dropped, Toto announced that they were planning to release their own cover of Weezer’s ‘Hash Pipe’, before debuting a live version of the track at a recent gig.

“We figured since we were smoking hash since before they were born, that’s the one we should do,” Toto guitarist Steve Lukather quipped before jumping into the song. “This is our tribute to Weezer, god bless ’em.”

While there’s no word yet as to when we’ll be getting Toto’s studio version of ‘Hash Pipe’, we only hope some of their eager fans will spend some of their time waiting for the tune to drop in a Burger King over in London.
