Hailing from the UK, Thousand Autumns first came onto the scene with debut City Of Sun, a free four-track  EP which very much sounded like a young band.

Three years later, after adding some impressive tour support slots to their list of achievements, Thousand Autumns have chosen to release another short EP, once again free of charge.

Luckily, the lull between new material has seen an improvement of the band’s sound. Opener “White Compass” shows how putting an emphasis on singing over screaming was a smart move, giving way to more memorable melodies than what was heard previously.

This EP is mainly short, sweet and to the point, leaving the listener to wonder if  Thousand Autumns are able to produce a filler-free full length.

If closing and title track “Chasing Boats” is the answer then an album will be more than worthy of a listen. With gang chants making this what is sure to be a favourite live, this song gives light to what the band could be.

Giving away two free EPs is a great way for a new and undiscovered band to build a fan base, and the three year break worked in the band’s favour as the comeback sound has become much more refined. If Chasing Boats is able to garner attention, Thousand Autumns need to produce a full length that can keep it.
