Adelaide pub-rock icons Cold Chisel have announced their first album in four years, with Blood Moon set to be released just before Christmas.

Earlier this month, Aussie music legends Cold Chisel announced that they would be hitting the road later this year for a series of shows that frontman Jimmy Barnes labelled “bigger, better, brighter and faster than anything else out there.”

With that sort of promise, fans were undoubtedly eager to catch the band live, and once a slew of Aussie music icons were announced as supports for this tour, the whole thing just got better by the second.

However, for long-time fans of the group, the most exciting part of this announcement was the news that the group might indeed have a new single and album on the way.

Having posted photos earlier this year that saw them claim they were “putting the band back together”, Barnes added fuel to this fire of intrigue by noting the band might have a new album by Christmas.

Now, the group have made good with their promise, formally announcing their eighth studio album, Blood Moon.

Primarily written by Don Walker, Blood Moon sees Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss trading vocals on their first album since 2015’s The Perfect Crime, which was recorded in Sydney over the last couple of months with long-time producer Kevin Shirley.

Set to be released just before Christmas, Cold Chisel have also revealed that a new single is on the way, with the fittingly-titled ‘Getting The Band Back Together’ set to be released next week on October 31st.

“The album covers a lot of ground lyrically and musically”, explains Don Walker. “‘Getting The Band Back Together’ seemed like the right sentiment to accompany the tour but the album itself has a lot of songs that are darker than that, and a few quieter ones too.

“It’s great to still be making new music and finding new ways to do it after all these years.”

With tickets to the band’s upcoming Blood Moon tour set to go on sale from 11am local time today, Cold Chisel have also added one more show to their tour, with a second and final appearance in Queensland for A Day On The Green set to close out their tour on Sunday, February 9th, 2020.

Check out all the details below, and be sure to keep an eye out for the band’s new single when it drops next week.
