The Rock The Bay 2014 lineup has been announced, with a mighty selection of bands locked in as the one-day event returns this February.
Now entering its sixth year, Rock The Bay 2014 will see the festival expanding to 40 bands sweating it out across four rooms as they take over St Kilda’s The Espy on Saturday 15th February.
Headlining the Rock The Bay 2014 lineup is none other than flame-haired rock heiress Dallas Frasca and her boisterous rhythm section, along with Perth’s award-winning group, The Love Junkies, who have capped a bumper 2013 by getting handpicked by Triple J as one of the Top 20 Aussie artists to watch for 2014.
Fellow Triple J Next Crop act Born Lion are also on the bill, bringing their ferocious sonic attack to the 2014 lineup, along with Rock The Bay favourites like Engine (formerly known as Engine Three Seven), and the Tim McMillan Band, as well as Like Thieves, which features ex-The Butterfly Effect vocalist Clint Boge, and mighty prog powerhouse that is Toehider.
Heading out all the way from Austria is special guests Mother’s Cake, Europe’s newest prog rock sensation, who are hitting Australian shores next month for a national tour before the power trio returns in April to light the Espy with their ambitious music, that’s drawn comparisons to The Mars Volta, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix.
There’s plenty to enjoy further down the Rock The Bay 2014 lineup too, including Battle Axe Howlers, Anna Salen, Helm, Head Filled Attraction, Smoke Stack Rhino, and many, many more.
The sixth edition of the annual festival is set to be the biggest yet, with the addition of the Espy’s Mezzanine Room to accommodate the 40 bands on the bill.
To celebrate six years running, tickets have gone back to the original 2009 price of just $21+BF or $25 at the door, and are on sale now.
