Following on from the announcement that the organisers behind the brand new music festival in the regional town of Denilquin in New South Wales would be offering free camping passes to festival-goers, including refunding those who’d already purchased the privilege to setup on site, the set times and timetable for the inaugural Deni Blues & Roots Festival are here.
Presented by a new partnership forged between Chugg Entertainment and Rob Potts Entertainment Edge, the Deni Blues & Roots Festival will take place on the Easter weekend on March 30th at the Deniliquin Ute Muster site, with a lineup of acts borrowed from the Byron Bay Bluesfest.
Guitar virtuoso Santana and heritage rock act the Steve Miller Band are topping a bill that includes Bonnie Raitt, Chris Isaak, Tony Joe White, Jimmy Cliff, Status Quo, and a host of other music legends. Along with the announcement of the set times, there’s a new name to add to that list with the Michael Chugg-managed Lime Cordiale being added to the bill, and playing first thing on the Sunday morning on Stage B.
Hailing from the northern beaches, Lime Cordiale’s five-strong lineup features brothers Oli and Louis Leimbach, Brendan Champion, James Jennings, and new keyboardist/guitarist Tim Fitz. Having featured at a number of summer festivals, including Homebake 2012, they’re a late but welcome addition to the Deni Blues & Roots bill.
The best news about the timetabling is that there are zero clashes, with over 20 acts spread between two stages across two days, there’s plenty of room for overlap to ensure that fans can catch both headlining acts Carlos Santana and Steve Miller Band, and still squeeze in Ward’s Xpress without missing a beat.
The inaugural festival is also selling strongly, with a variety of premium ticket options available, and also indicated by the “goodwill gesture” for patrons, with last week’s news that patrons who had already purchased the $75 camping tickets would have their money refunded.
Speaking of the new free camping promotion, promoter Michael Chugg was enthusiastic about the festival’s launch. “Deni’s got such a great vibe surrounding it and it’s going to be a mainstay in the event calendar,” he says. “We want to make sure that people can come and check out this great festival and see what it’s all about – and what better way than with a free place to stay!”
“To make a successful festival you need a great site, access to lots of people, world class staging and infrastructure and a killer line-up of great international and local talent,” said Rob Potts at the announcement of the festival.
“Having worked on a number of great festivals over the years that are staged around the Easter long weekend, we know that this is the perfect time of year for people to get away from their busy lives for a few days and enjoy some great live music,” added Chugg.
So grab your camping gear, your dancing shoes, and leave your highlighters at home, as all the music co-ordination is pretty much done for you. Check out the timetables, full lineup, and ticketing details below.
