Canberra’s very own experimental pop auteur returns with the airy and leaden slow-burner ‘Holding Out’, a track which crawls along with emotional prowess, all while being silhouetted by shimmering production.
Endrey is no stranger to performing under the big lights, having shared a stage with the likes of Cat Empire, Gotye, The Darkness and Client Liaison. We were so captivated by their last single ‘Insane’ that we just had to Get to Know all about them, and now we are so glad that they have returned with another sauntering, moody track.
Fresh new single ‘Holding Out’ houses moody and personal lyricism buoyed by jaunting and shimmering electronic beats. The track unashamedly mines the caverns of the heart, and pours out a passionate spell to call forth the intimacy that Endrey, and all of us, truly desire.
The whirling new track follows on from previously released gems ‘Insane’ and ‘Lusitania’, which came out throughout the course of 2019.
Speaking about the brand new track, Endrey says: “It’s a meditation upon the lost chances for connection that contemporary society can foster with a hopeful note that we all deserve to ask for the intimacy we need despite that.
“As with my previous releases from the upcoming album, it has an unusual feature with a choir of friends and string quintet under emerging Sydney conductor Chloe Sinclair, who charted my arrangements.” The previous track in question here is, of course, the addictive and vulnerable ‘Insane’, which dealt with the subject matter of opening yourself up to vulnerability whenever you’re in love, which can be a difficult task indeed. On ‘Insane’, Endrey asked the hard questions, and even featured a spoken-word cameo from a Canadian psychologist and an exultant chorus from
national wrestling champ Nick Delatovic. We cannot wait to hear what Endrey puts out next.
