Armed with their colourful self-titled debut, fun-loving Sydney group Jinja Safari are inviting Australian audiences to discover their vibrant live show with the Bay Of Fires Tour, a new show that entails the biggest touring footprints Jinja has yet to make on Australia, playing 16 shows across the country.
Having taken their on-stage show from New York, London and India, through to stages at Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festival, Jinja Safari will play a host of shows this September and October, including two special all ages shows for under 18s in Sydney and Perth.
Just announced to be joining the five-piece on their Australian jaunt are Brisbane’s Cub Scouts and Sydney’s Okenyo.
Brisbane’s Cub Scouts have just finished up playing to sold out crowds in the UK, as well as Vietnam and Singapore. The band have also just dropped details of their forthcoming EP Paradise, out August 2nd. By the time they set off with Jinja Safari they will be in fine form with Splendour In the Grass, a headline set at 4 Walls Festival and a BigSound appearance all ahead of The Bay of Fires Tour. Their new single ‘Paradise’ pushes their trademark pop sound, proving why their mantle holds the 2012 Queensland Music Awards gong for Song of the Year.
Sparking the blaze will be Sydney’s neo soul and mystical Okenyo. Arriving with a new sound that will take your hand and lead you to The Underworld, she is a perfect starter to The Bay of Fires affair. Described as “…a fiercely compelling presence on stage”, there is no doubt Okenyo’s alluring style will set the right tone for an electrifying night. Listen to Okenyo’s debut single, ‘Broken Chest‘.
The tour support announcement follows the release of the new music video for Jinja Safari’s ‘Dozer’, described as a “tongue-in-cheek gaze into what a Jinja Safari-led cult would perhaps look like”. Take a look at the new video – along with the 2013 dates – below.
