The release date of Kanye West’s ninth studio album, Jesus Is King, appears to have been delayed. The news comes less than a month after Kim Kardashian announced the album’s release on Twitter. West himself had also posted the release date on his website, confirming the album was set to hit shelves on the 27th of September.
However, sources close to West have contradicted this claim, in what is a huge blow for Kanye fans. It is believed that the decision to delay the album’s release came after a meeting between West and label executives. The aforementioned sources have confirmed that Def Jam executives met with West at a Wyoming property owned by the rapper.
As if the situation wasn’t already confusing enough, Kardashian recently re-tweeted a post counting down the days until the supposed release of the album.
So who even knows anymore? It is not the first time that Kanye has taken a somewhat hesitant approach to releasing his music. The rapper caused a stir amongst his fans last year after announcing, and then shelving, his album, Yandhi. On the eve of its suppose release date, a similar situation appears to be arising with Jesus Is King…
West has not released any singles in the lead-up to Jesus Is King, but the new album is thought to be heavily gospel-influenced, aligning with West’s recent renewed interest in Christianity. Earlier in the year, the singer began performing “Sunday Services” each week in different locations, combining his faith with music and fashion.
Although Kanye has neither confirmed nor denied these allegations, one thing is certain. Fans appear to be tiring of West and Kardashian’s games, taking to social media to demand answers.
