Australian’s own global pop icon Kylie Minogue has been locked in to perform the Sunday “legend” slot at Glastonbury festival 2019.
The ‘teatime’ slot is considered the festival’s heritage act set where iconic acts take the Pyramid stage to draw the biggest crowd of the weekend.
In past year’s Glastonbury has tapped acts like Barry Gibb, Lionel Richie and Dolly Parton to fill the slot.
The addition also makes music history for Kylie. It’s the first time she has played a solo set at Glastonbury. She made a guest appearance with Scissor Sisters in 2010 but was actually due to tale the legend slot back in 2005. She had to withdraw after her breast cancer diagnosis. Basement Jaxx replaced her.
Kylie broke the news on Twitter:
“I’m so thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing the ‘Legend slot’ on Sunday 30th June at @GlastoFest 2019,” she wrote.
“It will be 14 years since I was originally meant to appear there and so much has happened up to now. I can’t wait to see you all there to share this special show.”
As a testament to the Glastonbury’s juggernaut status, the festival is already sold out despite only having one other act announced to perform, Stormzy.
