There’s no denying that these past few years have seen a groundswell in the Australian R&B community. It’s a renaissance that is long overdue, and one we’re welcoming with open arms. Lara Andallo is a relatively new kid on the block but she’s already proven that she’s a total force to be reckoned with.

The Sydney musician has just dropped her brand new single ‘when the lights go out’, an introspective rumination on self-doubt and insecurities disguised in a honeyed mask of pop heaven.

“During the day, our mind is occupied, and we’re distracted by everything going on around us,” Andallo explains of the track. “But once we’re in bed, “when the lights go out”, is really when our insecurities & doubts come out, and we actually have to be alone with our thoughts”.

Andallo dropped her debut ep For Her earlier this year. The collection boasted a collaboration with Western Sydney prodigy Lil Spacely, and production and co-writing credits from pop powerhouses JOY. and Kota Banks. It’s a real treat.

The musician had a trove of plans to hit the stage consistently in 2020, but coronavirus forbid. However, Andallo has used isolation as a way to test her creativity in the way that she connects with fans. “Im actually super excited to be more innovative in the way I connect online, perform and make videos,” she says.

Thursday night saw Lara join forces with A.GIRL, Becca Hatch and Ms. Thani on an Instagram Live ‘Girls Night In’.

“I wanted to support my girls and come together to lift everyone up. Especially at a time where we can feel pretty alone and disconnected from everyone” Lara explained of the project.
